Upcoming Birthday

Those of you related to me (most of you) or who I hang out with on a regular basis (I'm guessing the rest of you), may have been wondering where my mile-long list of birthday requests has been. After all, it's a mere 22 days until that day when Mom finally got to see me and scold me for being, oh, three weeks late. Anyways. Mom's already ordered my present from her, so she's all set. But what about the rest of you? What will you give me? I have a few humble suggestions (none of which are a car, house, or David Tennant. That said, if you give me David Tennant for my birthday you are the awesomest person EVER). The list starts and the rambling ends...NOW! 1. Buffy Staked Edward t-shirt. Because really? She totally would have. 2. Stop Kitten Poker tank top. This is a concern of mine and my boobs are willing to advertise that fact. 3. Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! t-shirt. Perhaps one of the greatest lines ever uttered in a TV show. Best served with plastic dinosaurs. 4. Huge Tracts of Land t-shirt. I know of at least three pervy guy friends who are now fighting over the chance to adorn me with this t-shirt. 5. You never forget your first Doctor t-shirt. Ah, Eccleston. You were FANTASTIC! 6. A few words from Spike. You are picturing this framed and up on a wall somewhere, aren't you? Is it just me? This really belongs in my kitchen, I promise. Or above the computer. Maybe I need two? 7. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Great book, interesting TV show (of the episodes I've seen), but where Gaiman shines is in the graphic novel format and so I must acquire this. You can acquire this at Borders, if Amazon is too fancy for you. 8 (which really wanted to be 9 but I resisted). Buffy: Omnibus 2. I have the first omnibus and I want another. Is that too much to ask? Probably, considering all the other crap I have listed. All the same, feed the Buffy/comics addiction. It's fun! 9 (YES I AM AT 9 AND MY FINGERS ARE HAPPY). Bones: Season 3. Oh David Boreanz, I must have some quality Boreanz staring time. Plus, I never quite saw all these episodes. Help me out! 10. Socks From the Toe Up. You didn't really think I was going to put together a birthday list that had nothing fibery whatsoever in it, did you? How cute. 11. Royals tickets. You know, they don't entirely suck this year. I think I should reward them with my presence. Buy two tickets and take me to the game! Sunday games are the best, with buck night Fridays running a close second. 12. Stand mixer. I have so much fun baking and yet I do not have a stand mixer. Do you know how annoying it is to try to cream butter and sugar by hand or with a handheld mixer? I am far too clumsy for that! I have seriously dropped my mixing bowl before. Save me! 13. Gift cards are always a lovely and popular choice. Mademoiselle enjoys visits to such fine establishments as Borders, Barnes and Noble, MicroCenter, Lane Bryant, Yarn Shop and More, The Studio and Amazon.com.

Life is a Song

Did you ever wish that when you went to the train station , people would just burst into song?

Go Royals!

As a long-time Royals fan, I am used to having the boys in blue be a punchline whenever a late night comic is running low on material. However, things are changing. We have a new batting coach and some great players this year. The Royals are currently at the top of their division and we have a pitcher on the cover of Sports Illustrated. We are actually getting positive attention! I have decided that, in support of the awesome job they are doing, if the Royals get to the playoffs this year, my pink streaks are turning blue! If you want to join in on the fun, let me know. Maybe we can all go to a game with our blue hair!

Dear World:

I am wearing a dress today. Nobody has died, gotten married or graduated. I'm just wearing it because I have it and it's cute. There may or may not be a picture later as proof.

Awesome Day!

Today has just kicked ass! I went to Pop Culture Comix to partake in Free Comic Book Day and was greeted by stormtroopers! I then went to Maui Express where I had a truly tasty chicken/steak bowl. Afterwards, I went to the library to pass some time (and yes, see if the cute librarian was there). While I had no eye candy, I did get some reading in. While there, I noticed my phone was ringing and picked up. Dan wanted to know if I would like to go see Cake tonight. Hmm..YES! Went to Elite Comics and got more free books and was greeted by Jedi! The Force is obviously strong in JoCo. I then had to go to work for six hours, but I had hardly anything to do, so I got to twiddle my thumbs and stay awake. Much more relaxing than my afternoon would have been, probably. While at work, I got two more offers of things to do tonight, but passed because free tickets to Cake beats all. I then went and saw a truly KICK ASS show. I only knew a few songs, but the music was so great I was able to sing along and dance to the music without really knowing it. I have plans for payday that involves quality time with Amazon MP3 and searching for Cake. :-) I think I have a new favorite band--their sound is awesome. More rock bands need a horn. After the show, I found my way out of the Crossroads district all by my lonesome. Those who know my sense of direction and complete incomprehension of the downtown area (and who probably aren't even reading this blog) are suitably impressed. I'd like to think that there are a good five or six people who, around 11 tonight, suddenly felt very proud of me. Buoyed by my success at leaving the Crossroads without getting lost, I called my friend Robby and we went out to Perkins for a late night meal. While the hot Spike-like waiter no longer works there, it was fun to sit there and talk. On my way home, I might have been speeding a teensy bit through town and I got pulled over. "What does that have to do with an awesome day?" you ask. I got left off with a warning. I think the cop may have been slightly amused by my answer of "I have to pee" when he asked why I was speeding. So, I started out today thinking I would get a free comic or two and then work and come home and do nothing. Instead, I got seven free comics, tasty food, a relaxing afternoon, access to a great concert, hung out with friends and did NOT get a speeding ticket. Awesome day, my friends. Awesome day.
